(Because Good Taste Doesn’t Need a Countdown)
I’ve been thinking about something lately.
Last-minute gifts have a terrible reputation.
Somewhere along the way we decided that if a gift wasn’t planned weeks in advance, it must be careless. But I’m not sure that’s actually true.
Sometimes the best choices happen quickly.
When something is well designed, it rarely needs a long explanation. You open the box and it already feels like the right choice.
Designing jewelry reminds me a little of cooking. You can have beautiful ingredients, but if the balance isn’t right, the dish never quite comes together. Jewelry works the same way.
Every element needs a reason to be there — even if that reason is simply that it makes the piece more beautiful.
If you’re choosing something close to the occasion — a birthday dinner, wedding weekend, festive gathering — earrings are usually the safest move.
They’re free-size, they almost always look good, and they have enough presence to feel like a proper gift. No sizing guesswork. No quiet panic about whether it will fit.
So if the timing is a little… flexible, here are a few pieces that tend to work beautifully.
Isaro Chandeliers
I’ve always loved how the moon never quite looks the same twice. Some nights it’s bright and full, other nights it’s softer and fading through its phases. That shifting personality became the starting point for this design.
Pearls naturally belong in that story, but I didn’t want them sitting in obvious places. Instead they’re tucked through the structure like small buds between leaves. They appear where you expect them — and also where you don’t.
The design leans heavily on texture and form.
The length was a deliberate decision. Long enough to feel like true chandelier earrings, but still comfortable enough to move freely without hitting the collarbone or catching in clothing.
Statement earrings should always feel easy to wear. That balance between impact and comfort is something I check carefully before finalizing a design.
I have a round face myself, and I like how the vertical movement elongates it slightly. But they tend to work across most face shapes because the eye follows the movement rather than stopping at one point.
They’re striking without feeling excessive.
Sooki Chandeliers
Very few things in nature are perfectly shaped. Leaves grow differently, branches curve in unexpected ways, and pearls themselves are rarely perfectly round.
That’s why these earrings use baroque pearls.
Their irregular shapes give the design life. Each pearl catches light a little differently, which keeps the surface interesting rather than uniform.
They’re gold dipped, which adds warmth and another layer of dimension. It shifts the pearl away from something purely classic and gives the piece a richer texture.
In my mind the earrings resemble branches with buds forming along them.
Like Isaro, they also carry a reference to the moon — not literally, but through the idea of natural growth and energy.
They have texture, movement, and depth without needing much else.
Inka Maxi Earrings
The Inka Maxi Earrings come from a very different place.
They were inspired by the bustling energy people often associate with India — layered, vibrant, and full of motion.
Instead of trying to control that energy, the design lets it unfold through circles.
The entire earring is built around circular forms. Some are cast with motifs, others are set with stones. They vary in size and expand outward until the structure begins to fan open.
Together they create something fluid rather than rigid.
Pieces like this sit at an interesting point in my work. I want them to be bold and unmistakable, but they still need to remain lightweight enough to wear comfortably for hours.
Weight balance is essential. Jewelry should never feel heavy or restrictive.
Because the circles repeat across the design, the silhouette feels cohesive even though the structure is layered and detailed.
These are earrings that show up in a room.
Pina Earrings
The Pina Earrings belong to the Khwaab collection — a series inspired by childhood memories.
Sometimes design begins with something simple.
In this case, the pineapple motif just felt fun.
The collection leans into nostalgia — the kind that brings back small memories from growing up. It’s meant to feel playful and creative rather than serious.
These earrings use green topaz glass stones, which add flashes of colour without feeling traditional. The green has a richness similar to emerald but feels fresher and more modern.
They move like chandelier earrings but carry a lighter attitude.
They’re joyful pieces.
Mosaic Earrings
Moroccan architecture is full of repeating geometric patterns. When you look closely, shapes begin to reveal themselves within other shapes.
That rhythm translated naturally into jewelry.
These earrings combine filigree metalwork with panels of mother-of-pearl resin. The iridescence of the material softens the structured geometry.
Resin was chosen intentionally. Real mother-of-pearl is restricted in some countries, and resin keeps the earrings lightweight while preserving the luminous quality of the material.
The result feels graphic, layered, and distinctive.
Amphora Drop Earrings
The Amphora Drops were inspired by decanters and carafes I kept seeing while travelling through Morocco.
Those vessels have beautifully balanced silhouettes — curved, elegant, and purposeful.
That form translated easily into jewelry.
Curved metal frames hold panels of mother-of-pearl resin, creating layers that add depth without making the earring feel visually heavy.
They’re composed, elegant, and easy to reach for.
